Edwin Lee Noell
Edwin Lee (Ed) Noell, 77, of Roanoke, passed away on Tuesday, December 9, 2025. He was preceded in death by his father, William Charles Noell, Sr.; mother, Virginia Noell Overstreet; and wife, Jeannette Noell.
He is survived by his wife, Ann Noell; daughter, Michele Noell Richardson (Taylor); son, William Noell (Krystal); grandchildren, Michael Acevedo (Kirsten), Drew Acevedo (Lexi), Emma Acevedo, David Richardson, Savannah Acevedo, Eli Richardson, Ally Rae Chapman, Nicholas Acevedo, Jaxon Chapman, Isabella Acevedo, and Wyatt Noell; great grandchildren, Jaxxon Acevedo, Atlas Acevedo, Kinsleigh Acevedo, and Victoria Acevedo; brother, William Charles Noell, Jr. (Carolyn); sister, Mary Vinson (Ken); and many other family members.
Ed was a graduate of Patrick Henry High School and Virginia Tech. He worked for Norfolk Southern Railroad for many years as a Supervisor and Hearing Officer. He played fast pitch softball for the Salem Suns, coached little league baseball and football. He was an Assistant Coach for several Maroon Crush Softball teams; served as Vice President of the Roanoke Valley Sports Club; was active in Bible studies and many social groups. He never met a stranger and was beloved everywhere he went.
Ed played golf, bowled in a Thursday league at Hilltop Lanes in Roanoke, loved hunting, fishing, painting, woodworking, stained glass, cooking, God and his family and friends.
There will be a Memorial Service for friends and family at a later date. In lieu of flowers, please send donations to Virginia Tech.
