Elbert "Buddy" Clarence Shively

Elbert “Buddy” Clarence Shively, Jr., 84, of Henry, VA passed away on March 17, 2026. He was born August 11, 1941, to the late Elbert Clarence Shively, Sr. and Eva Bryant Shively. In addition to his parents, Buddy was predeceased by sister, Betty Clark; and grandchild, Caleb Ferguson.

Buddy was a faithful member of Twin Oaks Baptist Church. He worked at Blue Ridge Hardware in Bassett, VA and he retired from DuPont after 33 years of service. He had a deep love for the outdoors and delighted in sharing his knowledge of nature with friends, his children, and his grandchildren.

Buddy is survived and dearly missed by his wife, Mary Setliff Shively of 61 years; daughters, Tonya Ferguson (Steve) and Shawn Spencer (Derek); sisters, Elinor Draper, and Janet Fulcher; grandchildren, Eben Ferguson, Bailey Spencer, Heath Spencer.

The funeral will be held Thursday, March 19, 2026, at 12:00 p.m. at Twin Oaks Baptist Church, Ferrum, VA. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. Rev. Terry Covey will be officiating the service. Burial will follow the Service at Mill Creek Baptist Church Cemetery, 6200 Henry Rd., Henry, VA 24102.
