Elder James Lee Lester

Elder James Lee Lester, 58, of Martinsville, Virginia, entered into eternal rest on Wednesday, February 12, 2025, at Wake Forest Baptist Hospital in Winston-Salem, North Carolina. He was born on June 8, 1966, to Charles B. Lester Jr. and the late Virginia B. Lester. In addition to his mother, he was preceded in death by his two grandsons, Joseph Allen McCoy Jr. and Elijah McCoy.

A devoted servant of the Lord, James was a faithful member of White Stone Old Regular Baptist Church, where he served as an ordained minister. His love for God was evident in his ministry and the lives he touched. He also found great joy in fishing, farming, and cherishing time with his family.

James leaves behind his loving wife of 38 years, Peggy M. Lester; his father, Charles B. Lester Jr.; four children, Joseph McCoy, James Lester Jr. (Samantha), Timothy Lester (Tiffany), and Hannah Harmon (Aaron); and seven grandchildren, Emily McCoy, Eli Lester, Ethan Lester, Sadie Lester, Caroline Elkins, Alexzandria Lester, and Allison Elkins. He is also survived by his five brothers, Matthew Lester, Johnny Lester (Stephanie), Mark Lester (Sharon), Luke Lester (Sarah), and Daniel Lester; his sister, Rebecca Lester; and a host of extended family and dear friends.

The family will honor and celebrate the life and legacy of Elder James Lee Lester with services at White Stone Old Regular Baptist Church on the following dates: Monday, February 17, 2025, at 5:00 PM; Tuesday, February 18, 2025, at 7:00 PM; and Wednesday, February 19, 2025, at 11:00 AM. A burial will be held on Wednesday after the final service in the White Stone Old Regular Baptist Church Cemetery. Services will be officiated by Pastor Roger Walker, Pastor Gene Allen, and Pastor Luke Lester.
