Elijah Goode
Elijah Junior Goode, 88, of Appomattox, VA entered into eternal rest on Saturday, August 2, 2025 in Wilmington, Delaware.
He was born March 4, 1937 to the late Elijah Goode and Lois Walker Goode Biglow. At an early age Elijah joined the First Baptist Church in Appomattox, VA. He was a brick mason for many years. His love for music led him to ministering music at First Baptist Church and Zion Baptist Church in Pamplin, VA until his health began to fail. He was faithful to serve as needed at many other churches. He had a love for God and family. His favorite football team was the Pittsburg Steelers. Elijah loved his shiny black boots!
Elijah met and married Virginia Dillard and was married for 56 years. To this union two children were born.
Preceding him in death was his granddaughter Kendra Goode; three brothers, Sonny Walker, Henry Goode (Mary) and Danny Goode (Linda); two sisters, Beatrice Goode Flowers (George) and Mattie Goode Lawson (Sidney).
Elijah leaves to cherish his memory his loving and devoted wife Virginia; two children, Elijah Goode, II (Judy) of Appomattox, VA, and Stacey Hayden (Tony) (Edgar) of Lynchburg, VA; five grandchildren, Jarrod, Shaunise, Kamal, Antonio and Jordon; six great-grand children; two sisters, Rena Kelso of Appomattox, VA and Alice Kelso of Lynchburg, VA; one brother-in-law Joseph Dillard (Jody) of Appomattox, VA; for sisters-in-law, Alice, Margaret, Mickey and Ada all of Appomattox, VA; three adopted children, Tommy Goode, Susan Gregory and Yvonne Franklin, and a host of nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
A Celebratory Service of Mr. Elijah Goode's life will be held on Sunday, August 10, 2025, 1 p.m. at First Baptist Church, 747 Court Street, Appomattox, VA 24522.
Public viewing will be held on Saturday, August 9, 2025, 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. at the Bruce & Stiff Funeral Home.
