Mary "Elizabeth" Edson Crawford passed away peacefully on April 6, 2025, surrounded by the love of her children, grandchildren, and great-grandchildren. Born on October 25, 1936, in Carlisle, Pennsylvania, Elizabeth lived a life of deep devotion to her family, her faith, and her calling to care for others.
Elizabeth was the beloved wife of the late Charles Boyd Crawford, Sr. Together, they raised a beautiful family, rooted in love, service, and compassion.
Elizabeth was blessed with 15 grandchildren and 6 great-grandchildren.
She is survived by her five devoted children:
• Catherine Elizabeth Crawford Semeria and husband David, and their children Eric, Jessica (Daniel), and Nicholas (Rebecca and sons Henry, Owen, and George) and Christina “Tini".
• Linda Diane Crawford Brucker and husband Mike, and their sons Connor (Sydney) and Dylan.
• Laura Marie Crawford Kelly and husband Kevin, and their children Melissa (Steve and son Jackson), Christopher (Brittany and sons Aiden and Hunter), and Ashlyn (Shaq).
• Charles Boyd “Charlie” Crawford, Jr. and wife Ansley, and their children Chas, Kay, and Mitchell.
• Richard Edson Crawford and wife Wendy, and their children Edson, Abigail, and Mary Grace.
She is also survived by her sister, Jean Perrault, and husband, Steve.
Elizabeth was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Boyd Crawford, Sr., her sister, Barbara Dell, and husband, John, her cherished granddaughter, Christina “Tini", and her parents, Reginald and Thelma Edson.
A compassionate and skilled registered nurse, Elizabeth dedicated much of her professional life to elder care and healthcare quality. She served as Director of Nursing at the Darien Convalescent Center in Connecticut and later as a Georgia State and Joint Commission Surveyor, ensuring high standards of care in facilities across the country. Her wisdom and integrity left a lasting mark on those she served.
Elizabeth also poured her heart into her church community as a Stephen Minister at Dunwoody United Methodist Church in Georgia, offering a listening ear and comfort to those in need.
Elizabeth was a woman of quiet strength and vibrant spirit. She cherished time with her family, playing bridge with dear friends, was an avid reader of historical fiction, and walking along the shores during treasured beach trips. She also was a dedicated runner who completed the Boston, New York, and Atlanta Marathon with several of her children. Summers at Twin Lakes, Connecticut held a special place in her heart, filled with memories of laughter, togetherness, and serenity.
Her legacy lives on through the generations she nurtured and inspired. Elizabeth’s love was deep, enduring, and unconditional—her life was a testament to grace, compassion, and faith.
A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, May 10, 2025, at 11:00 a.m. at Dunwoody United Methodist Church in Dunwoody, Georgia.
