Elizabeth Darlene Brogan
Elizabeth Darlene Brogan, 66 of Blue Ridge Virginia, was carried safely home on the four winds on Sunday, March 23, 2025. Born in Roanoke, Va., on Sunday, August 3, 1958, to the late and Jack Edward Atkinson and Ellen Warden Richardson, she is also predeceased by her husband, William Clarence Brogan; brother, Jack Edward “Bean” Atkinson, Jr.; stepmother, Nancy Atkinson, and grandparents, Eldridge Maurice Atkinson, Homer Warden and Ina Truman,
Elizabeth attended Virginia Western Community College ultimately earning a bachelor’s degree in nursing. She went on to work as a registered nurse for more than thirty years serving in numerous medical facilities. Elizabeth lived life fully and was a caring and nurturing friend to all who knew her. She was an avid camper, loved to fish and greatly enjoyed the outdoors. She loved animals, especially her cats. Elizabeth was an amazing cook and bountiful gardener. She was a deeply compassionate mother and caregiver; her capacity to love others was boundless and only matched by her spunk and sense of humor. Elizabeth will forever be in the hearts of all she touched. She was a beautiful soul who lives on through many.
Those left to cherish her memory are her children, Tammy Perry, Michael Perry, Lucinda Jones, Marcus Perry and Travis Perry; grandson, Sabian Thompson; granddaughter, Savannah Jones; sisters, Pamela Richardson Mielnicki, Susan Adkinson Thurlow and Cindy Hostutler; brother, William "Tokey" Richardson, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles, cousins and friends.
Funeral Services will be conducted on Friday, March 28, 2025, at 2:00 p.m., in the chapel of John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home, Salem, with Pastor Tony Gray officiating. Interment immediately following in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. The family welcomes friends to visit in the funeral home chapel beginning at 12:00 p.m. until the service time.
