Elizabeth Joyce Soleski Bogle
Born January 28, 1931, in New Haven, Connecticut. As a child she was raised by Polish immigrant grandparents, on a small farm in Connecticut. Meme was a beacon of love and compassion throughout her life.
On December 22, 2024, she left this world to reunite with her husband of 39 years, Ray Bogle, and her son Robert.
Meme's life was a testament to her boundless generosity and nurturing spirit. She is survived by her son, Charles (Wanda), and daughter, Cheryle (Rodney}. Her legacy continues through her five grandchildren: Everett (Angela), Kristy, Erin (Mike), Ray (Bre), and Brianna. And her seven great-grandchildren: Raven, Claire, Silas, Adalie, Adalee, Phoenix, and Roland.
Meme's calling in life was to mother any child in need. As a foster mother with Roanoke City for 13 years, she provided a loving home for countless children. After the passing of her husband, she took a brief hiatus. But she soon returned to foster care, dedicating herself to special needs teens with DePaul Family Services. Meme retired from foster care at the age of 82, having devoted 31 years to this noble cause. An arts and crafts enthusiast, Meme's favorite pastimes were knitting and crocheting. Her creations, often donated to charity, brought warmth to the homeless and comfort to chemotherapy patients. She lovingly crafted Afghans, lap throws, hats, mittens, and socks for her family and friends.
Meme's legacy is one of unwavering love, kindness, and dedication. She will be deeply missed by all who knew her, but her spirit will live on in the hearts of those she touched.
