Elizabeth Louise Stone

Elizabeth “Betty” Louise Stone, 68, of Collinsville, Virginia, died Monday, September 16, 2024, at her home. She was born in Madira, California, on March 22, 1956, to the late Donald George Heron and Hazel Jessie Stone Heron.In addition to her parents, Betty was preceded in death her husband, Samuel Buren Stone; sister, Caroline Heron Stimpson; brother, Robert Heron; and by two aunts, Ora Stone and Ethel Koger both of whom were teachers in the Henry County School system for many years. They were the favorite teachers of many students.Betty moved to Collinsville, Virginia in 1990 to assist in the care of her aunt Ora and spent her remaining years in Collinsville. She was a graduate of Monache High School in Porterfield, California and received her nursing training as a CNA in Sacramento, California. She worked at Beverly Health Care, later known as Martinsville Health and Rehab and at Blue Ridge Health and Rehab until her retirement. Betty was a member of the Vision Assembly of God where she worked in the nursery and children’s church.Betty loved making baskets, floral arrangements and wreaths. She had a passion for unicorns and kept many framed pictures of unicorns in her home. She loved the fall and the beautiful colors displayed in trees and flowers during the fall.Betty is survived by a son, Timothy Joe “TJ” Mullins (Deborah A. Widmer) of Felton, Delaware and a daughter, Shyila K. Mullins of Martinsville; four grandchildren, La’Keeyah Edwards, Zack Mullins, Destiny Mullins and Keegan Widner.A memorial service will be announced at a later time.Wright Funeral Service & Crematory is serving the family.
