Elizabeth Roberts Lockhart

Elizabeth Roberts Lockhart, 85, of Bassett, Va., peacefully passed away on Thursday, February 23, 2023 at her home. She was born November 6, 1937, in West Virginia, to the late William Oscar Roberts and Maudie Cook Roberts. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her children, Jerry Lockhart, and Mary Lockhart; granddaughter, Andrea Lockhart Hodges; sisters, Elsie Hartwick, and Edith Roberts; brothers, William Oscar Roberts, Sr., R.J. Roberts, Ira Roberts, and Kennis Roberts; and her niece, Patty Gringle.

Elizabeth was employed at Bassett Mirror and enjoyed her time there before staying home to raise her children. In her free time, Elizabeth enjoyed attending church, knitting, and spending time with her close friends, Cindy Haden and Marilyn Moore. However, her favorite thing was spending time with her loving family.

Elizabeth is survived by her devoted husband, Harvey Lee Lockhart of Bassett; daughter, Teresa Stallard (Tim); three sons, Terry L. Lockhart, Sr., Larry Lockhart, and Arthur Perry Lockhart (Connie); adopted granddaughter, Crystal Keys; ten grandchildren, 20 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, as well as a host of nieces, nephews, cousins, and close friends.  

A viewing will be held from 12:00p.m. to 1:00p.m. Tuesday, February 28, 2023, at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, where a funeral service will be conducted at 1:00p.m. with Pastor David Heath presiding. A private burial will be held at the Lockhart Family Cemetery.
