Ella Marie Cummings Shinault
Mrs. Ella Marie Cummings Shinault, 84, of Mount Airy, went into the loving arms of Jesus on Monday morning, September 4, 2023. Mrs. Shinault was born September 18, 1938, in Moore County, one of eight children born to the late Alexander Dodson “Dan” and Lucy Elizabath Gibbons Cummings. Ella retired from Spencer’s Inc. after many years of service and later worked as a certified nursing assistant. Most of all, she will be remembered as a loving and devoted wife, mother, grandmother to all, and sister, as well as a faithful member of Genesis Full Gospel Church. She is survived by her best friend and husband of 70 years, Tom Shinault; her children, Lucie Shinault, Melinda Stone, Tommy Shinault and Tammy Sikes, Shirley and Tony Meeks, and Dennis and Tammy Shinault; her bonus family, Donald and Wilma Stone; twenty-one grandchildren, Randy and Starr Combs, Rodney and Stephanie Combs, Melody Stone, Matthew Stone, Malachi Stone, Mahaley Stone and Harvey Turner, Michaela Stone, Zachary Stone, Heavan Shinault and Coty Wagoner, Chase Shinault, Donovan Shinault, Lucas and Niki Shinault, Amy and Corey Jones, and Lane Galyean and Tyler Grant; twenty great-grandchildren, Dalton, Gage, Aaliyah, Kayden, Kaleb, Harper, Keiari, Corey, Brayden, Willow Mae, Acacia, Fenix, Kyra, Ali, Chevy, Bentley, Carson, Aubrey, Luke, and Benton; and a brother-in-law, MacArthur Shinault. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Shinault was preceded in death by a son-in-law, Michael Stone; a grandson, Seth Hicks; a great-granddaughter, April Combs; two sisters, Hazel Wallace and Elsie Wilson; five brothers, Sanford “Sam” Cummings, Elmer “Pete” Cummings, Lindsey “Dink” Cummings, Warren “Buddy” Cummings, and Gilmer “Gib” Cummings; her father-in-law and mother-in-law, James and Grace “Granny” Shinault; and her brothers-in-law and sisters-in-law, Marvin and Virginia Shinault, Herman and Lilla Shinault, Dee and Hallie Shinault, Jenny and Roylee Mayes, Buddy and Linda Shinault, Uless Shinault, and Judy Shinault. The funeral service will be held Thursday, September 7, 2023, at 11:00 AM at Genesis Full Gospel Church, with the Rev. Donnie Hooker and the Rev. Tom Slate officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery. The family will receive friends Thursday from 10:00 until 11:00 AM at the church. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy is serving the family.
