Ella Sue Collier Proffitt

July 16, 1936 - April 24, 2023

Ella Sue Collier Proffitt, 86, of Fieldale, Virginia passed away Monday, April 24, 2023, at Blue Ridge Therapy Connection. She was born July 16, 1936 to the late Jesse Jarrett. She is now freed from dementia and rejoicing in Heaven with her Heavenly Father.

Ella Sue was a strong woman full of faith, who always put her family first. Ella Sue has experienced significant loss of loved ones prior to her passing, including two husbands, her youngest child, Larry in 2013, and her son-in-law, Junior Rorrer in 2015, she was also preceded in death by a sister Mary Lou Bowers and brothers, Bill Jarrett and Don Jarrett. Missing her sweet smile, good talks, and even better cooking are her three remaining children Sheila, Lynn, and Roger. Ella Sue has seven grandchildren (Rodney, Travis, Brad, Jessie, David, Jeremy, & Jimmy), 19 great-grandchildren and 3 great-grandchildren who all will continue to share in her many memories with love.

Stanleytown’s Amazing Grace Baptist had the pleasure of being Ella's home church before she transitioned to Blue Ridge Nursing Home for care as dementia progressed. Ella Sue made the very best squash casserole and strawberry desserts. She would sit on her front porch and enjoy the sun shining down as she watched the traffic in her rocking chair with her son, Larry, just inside sitting in front of a fan to cool off on warm days. Larry required Ella's loving heart to care for him daily, but Ella loved to take care of anyone who needed to be loved. She loved keeping the roads hot and especially loved her grandbabies. She walked in the fruits of the Spirit - love, joy, peace, patience, kindness, generosity, faithfulness, gentleness and self-control on a daily basis and she never knew a stranger. While we all will miss Ella Sue, we are thankful that she knows no more suffering, confusion, frustration, weakness, or heartache. She now can reunite with her beloved and her sons.

The funeral will be held on Thursday, April 27, 2023, at 11:00 A. M. at Wright Funeral Service Chapel with visitation thirty minutes prior to the service. Burial will follow at Henry Memorial Park.
