Elsie Marie Hull Thompson

ELSIE HULL THOMPSON, 98, of Bastian, VA, passed away August 14, 2024 at Carrington Place in Wytheville, Va.  She was born July 31, 1926 in Bland, VA, the daughter of Lloyd Hull and Geneva Sarver Hull.

Elsie loved her family and loved going to church either at the Salem Church of God and Bastian Church of God. She worked hard to keep up with her family and close friends until she could no longer. She had a wonderful love for Jesus that she shared with everyone. She was a saint here on earth, never saying a cross word to or about anyone.

Besides her parents, she is preceded in death by her husband, Paul Thompson, her brother, Harry E. Hull, her sister, Joyce A. Kidd, and her niece, Kim Andrews.

Left to cherish her memory is her sister, Allene Mann; her sister-in-law, Betty Hull; her nieces, Cheryl Moses and Marty Hoback (Todd); her nephews, Phillip Kidd (Lillian), Matthew Kidd (Nancy), and Harry Hull, Jr.; her special “daughter”, Judy Gregory (Barry) and family; many great nephews and nieces.

The family would like to thank the staff at Carrington Place and Wythe Hospice of Southwest Virginia for their wonderful care.

Funeral services will be held on Monday, August 19, 2024 at 1:00 PM at Bastian Church of God with Rev. Cliff Bowman and Rev. Matthew Kidd officiating. Burial will follow in Rose Hill Cemetery.  The family will receive friends at the church from 12:00 PM until service time, 1:00 PM.
