Emerson "Emmy" Sigtryggsson
Emerson "Emmy" Sigtryggsson of Stamford, CT and Blacksburg, VA passed away on September 8th at the age of 20, following a very brief battle with sarcoma. She was a loving sister, wonderful daughter and a loyal friend to all. Emmy was a devoted faith-filled Christian; strong in God’s love, His strength, and His mercy which she freely shared with everyone, especially those in need. She made it her mission to let everyone know they mattered. She cherished teaching special needs children to be bold as well as spending time with elders. Emmy was at her best in a group, whether children or adults. She made sure everyone had fun, even if that meant taking a pie in the face. She was a blessing to all who knew her. She was a junior at Hillsdale College studying Physics. She was a member of the Pi Beta Phi sorority and served as Youth Director at Jonesville First Presbyterian Church. She was the Stamford Varsity Swim Team Captain, on the High School Debate Team, Captain of the Mock Trial Team and in 2021 she was awarded CT’s Best Attorney. In her spare time, Emmy coached swimming, synchronized swim, and was a lifeguard. Emmy is survived by her parents, Krissie (Lindstrom) and Hal Sigtryggsson, her three sisters, Spencer, Peyton and Elliott and many aunts, uncles and cousins. The family will receive friends during Visiting Hours from 5-7 pm Sunday evening September 22nd at the McCoy Funeral Home, 150 Country Club Dr. S.W., Blacksburg, VA 24060. Funeral Services will be conducted Monday, September 23rd at 11:00 am in the Good Shepherd Baptist Church, 155 Dunlap Drive, Christiansburg VA 24073. Interment will follow in the Memorial Gardens of the New River Valley Cemetery on North Main Street in Blacksburg VA 24060. In lieu of flowers please consider making a donation to Swim Across America.
