Emma Christine Tate Butcher

Ms. Emma Christina Tate Butcher, age 87, passed away Saturday, March 29, 2025, at Hugh Chatham Memorial Hospital in Elkin, NC. She was born in Surry County to the late William Jackson Tate and the late Mary Vada King. Left to cherish her memories are her daughters, Debbie Butcher Riggins (Buddy) and Kimberly “Kim” Butcher Bowman (Jerry); her son, Robert Randal Butcher (Penny); her grandchildren, Brandon Childress, Christina “Christy” Keffer, Jericho Bowman, Jason “JR” Butcher, Robert Lewis Jenkins, Crystal Bowman, Heather Shelton, and Lee Shelton; her great grandchildren, Kylee Childress, Paisley Keffer, Cody Butcher, Kyle Butcher, Capri Butcher, Ayden Butcher, and Tiffany; her brothers, Donald Green Tate and Jonny James Tate. In addition to her parents, she was proceeded in death by her beloved grandson, Mitchell Jerad Riggins; sisters, Hattie Tate Monday and Annie Loraine Norman; her brothers, Harvey Lane Tate and William “Bill” Jackson. A service will be held Friday, April 4, 2025, at New Bethel Baptist Church at 2 PM with Rev. Jimmy McCraw officiating. Visitation will be held from 1 – 2 PM prior. Burial will follow at the New Bethel Baptist Church Cemetery. Moody-Davis Funeral Service in Dobson will be serving the Butcher family.
