Ernest Layne Irvan

Ernest Layne Irvan, age 78, of Lynchburg, VA, passed away on Wednesday, October 15, 2025.

Born on February 18, 1947, in Lynchburg, he was the son of the late Lloyd Guy Irvan and Edith Mearl Reynolds Irvan of Rockbridge County, VA.

Erny was preceded in death by his twin brother, John Wayne Irvan (Renate), and siblings Lloyd Winston Irvan (Arnette), Doris M. Thompson (Carroll), Aylette I. Irvan, and Karen Sue Kennon (Charles).

A proud veteran of the United States Air Force, Erny retired from Harvey’s Radiator Service in Lynchburg. He also worked as a dispatcher for the Lynchburg Life Saving Crew. Erny had a passion for yard sales and flea markets and will be greatly missed.

He is survived by his brother, Donald Ray Irvan (Eva) of Bedford, VA, and his sister, Brenda I. Reynolds of Lynchburg. Erny is also survived by many nieces and nephews.

The family will receive friends on Monday, October 20, 2025, from 6:00 to 8:00 pm at Whitten Timberlake Chapel. A graveside service will be held on Tuesday, October 21, 2025, at 1:00 pm at Presbyterian Cemetery in Lynchburg, VA. Pastor David Turner will officiate.
