Estelle Shively Thompson

Estelle Shively Thompson, age 94, of Ferrum, VA went home to be with the Lord on Friday, October 31, 2025. She was the daughter of the late Mark and Lula Shively. She was also preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Buford, and sisters, Mildred Scott, Mary Sauers, Geneva Hodges, Virginia Hodges and Opal Thompson; brothers, Millard, Kermit and Garvice Shively.She is survived by three sons, Gary (Michelle), Benny, Ricky (Dana) and a loving grandson, Logan; special niece and caretaker, Doris Carter, along with other special nieces and nephews; brother-in-law, Leslie Hodges and many loving and caring friends.The family would like to express their heartfelt gratitude to the staff of Franklin Health and Rehab Center for their care provided during her stay. She had several staff caretakers who were dear to her heart, along with family caretakers, Jill Hodges and Brenda Perdue.The family extends their gratitude to the doctors and nursing staff at Carilion Franklin Memorial Hospital, along with her hospice caretakers. They gave loving care to her during her most recent illness.Her warm heart and affectionate smile will be missed by those she encountered on earth, but she is now peacefully smiling and looking down on us from heaven.Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Monday, November 3, 2025 with Chaplain Rick Poland officiating. Interment will follow in Maple Grove cemetery. Her family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
