Ethel "Marie Ferguson" Marie Ferguson

November 24, 1929 - July 18, 2024

Ethel Marie Ferguson, 94, of Martinsville, VA, entered her Heavenly Home on

Thursday, July 18, 2024.

Marie was born November 27, 1929 in the Burnt

Chimney Community of Franklin County and was the daughter of the late Joseph

Ferguson and Annie Barton Ferguson.

Marie was also preceded in death by her

sisters, Kathleen F. Hopkins and Bessie F. Hunley and dear friend Elva Phillips.

Marie is survived by her brothers, Ray Ferguson, Jimmy Ferguson and his wife

Joyce, Glenn Ferguson and his friend Mary Kasey, and sister, Mildred F. Hatchett.

She is also survived by several nieces and nephews.

After graduating from the old Rocky Mount High School in 1948, Marie began her

career with E.I. DuPont and remained there for thirty seven years where she made

lifelong friends and was a fine example of hard work.

After retirement, she

traveled across the country and visited forty eight states and continued her

adventures.

Later in life, she had her canine friend, Ike, who was her constant

companion for fourteen years and whom she loved dearly.

She was a faithful

member of Mica Road Baptist Church. She had a love of flowers and was well known

for keeping the church decorated through the seasons with her beautiful

arrangements.

Marie lived a life full of love, compassion, and dedication. She had a generous heart

and a strong commitment to her family, friends, and neighbors. Her faith was a

cornerstone of her life, guiding her actions and providing her strength and

comfort.

Funeral services will be held at 11:00 on Monday, July 22 at Collins-Mckee-Stone

Funeral Home, 109 Broad Street, Martinsville, VA with Pastor Jeff Evans

officiating. Interment will follow the service at Franklin Memorial Park, 21440

Virgil H. Goode Highway, Rocky Mount.

The family will receive friends one hour

prior to the service at the funeral home.

The family would like to express their appreciation to Marie’s church family,

neighbors and friends who provided her with support near the end of her life, Especially Helen Cooper.
