He was deeply devoted to his family and cherished his roles as a loving husband, father, grandfather, brother and uncle.

He is survived by his beloved wife, Melinda Hope Turpin; three children, Eric Andrews (Dawn), Elizabeth Wallin (Steven), and Caity Steffy; four adored grandchildren, Andrew Wallin, Sarah Wallin, Owen Wallin, and Emma Andrews; his brother, Richard Lynn Turpin (Melanie); nieces and nephews, Heather Farmer (Tyler), Nicky Lee (Jacob), Ben Turpin (Heather), and McKayla Wood (Jesse); great nieces and nephews, Trent, Brenleigh, Walker, Laken, Bailee, Grady, Tripp, Chandler and Maverick; sister-in-law, Chris Turpin, as well as his treasured cat, Conor, and many other extended family members and friends.

A service to celebrate Sam’s life will be held at 3:00 p.m. on Sunday, August 31, 2025, at New Chapel Baptist Church with the Rev. Richard Wallin officiating. Interment will follow in the church cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 6:00 to 8:00 p.m. on Saturday, August 30, 2025, at Whitten Timberlake Chapel.

Sam will be remembered for his quiet strength, warm heart, and unwavering love for his family and favorite teams. He will be deeply missed by all who knew him.
