Eula Mae Kirby Catterton

EULA MAE CATTERTON

November 12, 1941 – June 17, 2023

Eula Mae was born to John & Annette Kirby in Bland, VA, on November 12, 1941. She passed away on June 17, 2023 in her home, under the care of Hospice of SWVA, with her loving family by her side. 

Eula Mae enjoyed spending her spare time in her sewing room (AKA, “The Happy Room”) making beautiful quilts, baby blankets and various other things for the people she cared for.  

She also loved to listen to her brothers play music while she danced along to their picking and singing. 

She retired from S&W Fertilizer in 2004 after many years of service. 

She was preceded in death by her parents, John Charles & Annette Christian Kirby, young siblings, Johnny and Elizabeth Ann, her brothers & sisters-in-law, Edgar & Dottie Kirby, Charles (“Shorty”) & Mary Kirby and her son-in-law, Mike Shupe.  Most recently, she lost her lifetime partner, Elmer Townley.

She leaves behind so many loving family members including her sisters, Mary (“Diane” ) & Hugh Wells and Hazel Williams; her daughters & son-in-law, Dorie Shupe and Sue & Peanut (“Bubba”) Cregger; her grandchildren, Amie & Robert Newberry, Chrissy & Eric Gray, Annette & Wayne Dax, Michael Shupe and Kirby Shupe; her great-grandchildren, Kylie Shupe, Evan Gray, Jasmine Newberry, Camden Newberry and Parker Jones.

She also leaves behind her “inherited” great grandson, Jeremy (“Germy”) Dax and great-great-granddaughter, Josie Dax; and many nieces and nephews. 

Per her wishes, Eula Mae will be cremated and there will be no public services.
