Eva Mae Roberts

Eva Mae Roberts, 83, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away peacefully at her home surrounded by her family on Sunday, May 11, 2025. She was born on November 1, 1941, in Castlewood, Virginia, to the late Robert Walter Hale and Frankie Salyers Hale. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Anthony Sammy Roberts; three brothers; and one sister.

Eva was a talented seamstress and was self-employed after dedicating many years at Bassett Walker, Inc., well known for her skill in alterations and her love of sewing. She was a faithful member of Stanleytown Amazing Grace Baptist Church. Among her favorite pastimes were traveling and vacationing in Gatlinburg, Tennessee, which brought her much joy.

Left to cherish her memory are her two daughters, Lisa Iseman and Greta Kay Roberts; three granddaughters, Emily Merriman, Samantha Hill, and Holley Wimbish; three great-grandsons, Dagan White, Gaberiel Wimbish, and Alexander Wimbish; one great-granddaughter, Ava Hill; one sister, Fannie Hulsey (John); and a son in law, Earl Scearce; as well as a host of extended family and dear friends.

The family will receive friends on Monday, May 19, 2025, from 6:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. A funeral service will be held at 12:00 p.m. on Tuesday, May 20, 2025, also at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, with Pastor Jason Alverson officiating. Interment will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
