Eva Mae Scales Reynolds

February 2, 1930 - January 30, 2026

Eva M. Scales Reynolds, age 95 of Patrick Springs, Virginia, departed this life into eternal rest on January 30, 2026. She was born February 2, 1930, to the late James Rhames and Alice Scales Rhames. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her two husbands, George H. Scales and Theodore Reynolds; four children, Nellie Johnson, Richard, David, and Fred Scales; one grandson, Ernest Scott Parker; four brothers, James, Phillip, Henry, and Benjamin Rhames; one sister, Daisey Canty; her step-sons, Clarence and Leonard “Buster” Reynolds, and two grandsons, Matthew Penn and Mercer Reynolds.

She lived in Ridgeway, Virginia. with her first husband for 42 years then moved to Patrick Springs where she married Theodore. She always said she had two good husbands, and she did. She joined Mt. Nebo Pentecostal Holiness Church where she sang in the choir, taught Sunday School, baked lots of cakes for events, and was Mother of the church. She loved to sit outside with her flowers and her dog Snoop.

Leaving to cherish her memory are her children; Janis (Ellis) Hairston, Edna Louise (Charles Preston), Phyllis Hilton, Betty R. Hill, Diane Pocske, Mary (Waylan) Hunt, Della (Ricky) Carter, Teressa Reynolds, Carol and Sue Reynolds; a combined total of 45 grandchildren; 68 great-grandchildren; and 25 great-great grandchildren; also a host of nieces, nephews, friends and families who she was mama or aunt to all.

A funeral service for Mrs. Reynolds will be held Friday, February 6, 2026, at 1:00 PM at Mount Nebo Pentecostal Holiness Church with Pastor Sammy Hagwood officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the church on Friday. The burial will follow in the Wilson Family Cemetery, Ridgeway.
