Eva "Nin Nin" Price
Eva Claudine Huffman Price, a cherished matriarch and a beacon of love and faith in her community, went to be with her Lord and Savior on February 3, 2025, at the age of 92 in Newport, Virginia. Born on December 8, 1932, in Virginia, Eva's life was a testament to her unwavering spirit and her boundless capacity to nurture and uplift those around her.
Eva's journey began as the beloved daughter of Lamah Huffman and Rena Fisher Huffman. Her early years were filled with the warmth of a close-knit family, a foundation that would define her role as a devoted mother, grandmother, and friend. Eva's life was further blessed when she married her loving husband, Daniel Fisher Price, with whom she shared a lifetime of memories until his passing.
Her legacy of love is carried on through her children, Patty Dowdy (Wayne) of Newport, Virginia, Marcie Bishop (Leonard) of Blacksburg, Virginia, Jerry Price (Anita) of Pembroke, Virginia, and Steve Price (Amy) of Blacksburg, Virginia. Eva was a proud grandmother to 15 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren, and 5 great-great-grandchildren, all of whom brought immense joy to her life. She also held a special place in her heart for Mike Ratcliffe (Carol), whom she thought of as a son.
Eva's embrace extended beyond her immediate family to her Mt Mission Church family, where she was an active and beloved member for over 30 years. Her faith was the cornerstone of her existence, and she loved the Lord with all of her heart. That love was evident in every aspect of her life and in the compassionate way she interacted with everyone she met.
Eva's professional life was spent in the service of others, working at Electro-Tech Dining Services, where she was known for her diligence and caring demeanor. Her colleagues and those she served became part of her extended family, sharing in the joys and challenges of daily life. Prior to working for Electro-Tech Eva worked in dining services in the old Newport School until it’s closing where she was loved by all of the students who walked the halls.
Known affectionately as Nin Nin, Eva had a passion for the simple beauties of the world, particularly flowers. Her gardens were a reflection of her soul, vibrant and lovingly tended. They were a place of tranquility and reflection, mirroring the care she invested in all her relationships.
Eva's influence and warmth will also be deeply missed by a host of beloved nieces and nephews. She leaves behind a legacy of kindness, generosity, and unwavering faith. Her memory will be cherished and kept alive through the countless lives she touched.
Preceded in death by her parents, her husband Daniel, her daughter Sharon Elaine Dean (Clayton Dean), granddaughter Shanna Leigh Williams, sisters Helen Medley and Gladys Harless, and brothers Robert and Dewayne Huffman, Eva's spirit is reunited with her loved ones in Heaven.
The family wish to thank ACG Hospice and her nurse, Samantha Stafford for the love shown and care Mrs. Price received and that was also shown to them.
