Evangelist Belvain Penn Wright
God, in His infinite wisdom, saw fit to call Evangelist Belvain Penn Wright from labor to reward on Thursday, May 18, 2023, at Bon Secours Community Hospice House. She was born in Martinsville on April 11, 1943, to the late Elder Frank Penn and Cassie Elizabeth Stockton Penn. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Kenneth Wright; sister, Virginia Wimbush; and brother, Frank Penn.
Belvain worked at Bassett Walker for many years as a dedicated employee. She was a member of Meadowview AME Church, where she served in many capacities within the church. She was known best for preaching, teaching, and singing. She loved serving her Savior in anyway and anywhere she could. She also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends and helping others.
Left to cherish her memories are her children, Kenneth W. Wright, Jr. (Rachel), Vanessa Jackson (Clyde), and Tyson L. Wright (Lisa); brother, Rochester Penn; six grandchildren: Jennifer Lee, Ashley Wright, Autumn Smith, Anastasia Wright, Tylisha Pritchett, and Tyasia Wright; three great-grandchildren: Sopfia Jones, Avaya Pritchett, and Imani Lee; as well as a host of nieces, nephews, other family, and friends.
A homegoing celebration will be held on Friday, May 26, 2023, at 12:00 Noon at Greater International Pentecostal Holiness Church (Carver Assembly Building) with Pastor Robin Hopkins, eulogist. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Meadow Christian Church Cemetery. A floating visitation will be held on Thursday, May 25, 2023, from 1:00 PM to 7:00 PM at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel, and on other days at the home between the hours of 11:00 AM and 7:00 PM.
