Faye M. Parker
Faye M. Parker affectionately known as “Momma Faye” of Martinsville, Virginia transitioned from her earthly home to her heavenly home on Friday February 14, 2025.
She was born in Henry County, Virginia on February 23, 1943, to the late John Ed Foster and the late Annie Dell Dodson. She graduated from George Washington Carver High School in 1961. She retired from VF Knitwear with 36 years of service, she also volunteered at Grace Network as a greeter where she enjoyed her time there. She was a disciple of Agape Bible Christian Fellowship, where she served on the Usher’s Ministry and sang in the choir.
Momma Faye loved to cook and was good at it! She was well known for her potato salad, biscuits, and made from scratch cakes. Momma Faye did not meet any strangers because everyone that met her loved her sweet spirit and took to calling her “Momma Faye” as well.
In addition to her parents, she was also preceded in death by her husband, James L. “Bubba” Parker; brothers, John E. (Sammy) Foster and Lonnell Dodson; great granddaughters, Khyrra Martin and Khleo Toney; and great-great grandsons, Kerry Scales III and Pilis Scales.
She leaves to cherish her memory: four daughters, Senovia O’Neil of Bassett, VA, Jaulondia Lolita (Carl) Hodge of Axton, VA, Connie (Quince) Hairston of Martinsville, VA and Tammy R. Martin of Richmond, VA; a son, Terrill Parker; two sisters, Claudine Taylor of Smyrna, DE and Romain (Bishop Lum)Thompson of Newark, DE; a brother, Robert Dodson of South Plainfield, NJ; 15 grandchildren; 20 great-grandchildren and 8 great-great grandchildren; a special friend, Curtis (Muss) Hairston and an host of nieces, nephews, other relatives and friends.
The funeral will be held Tuesday, February 25, 2025, at 12:00 PM at Carver Assembly Building with Pastor C. Lee Hagwood officiating. Interment will follow at Carver Memorial Gardens. A visitation will be held one hour prior to the service. A floating visitation will be held Monday, February 24, 2025, from 2:00 – 4:00 PM at Wright Funeral Service Chapel.
