Florence Regit Flanagan

Florence Regit Flanagan, 100, of Roanoke, entered into eternal life on Thursday, July 17, 2025. She was preceded in death by her husband, John William Flanagan; sisters, Evelyn Nisky (Steve) and Marion Gillease (Jay), and several brothers and sisters-in-law.

Florence is survived by her loving daughter, Charlene Kalinoski and husband Chester; several nieces and nephews including Patrick Gillease, Erin Phelan (Jeff), and Karen Nisky; brother-in-law Harry Saultz (June), and Patsy Daniel and family.

Florence was born in Elizabeth, New Jersey and moved to Roanoke in 2001. As a young woman, she worked at Ortho Pharmaceuticals and the Phelps-Dodge corporation where she met her husband, John. A dedicated homemaker, she prioritized family and assisted family members through difficult illnesses. Later in life, she worked as a store manager for Card-O-Rama in Menlo Park, New Jersey. Among her most cherished memories are summers spent during her youth at the family beach house in Sandy Hook, New Jersey, and the many years she lived in her beloved home in Clark, New Jersey. In her last years, she was confined to home but never bored. She loved life to the end and is grateful for family and friendships that spanned the decades of her long life.

A Funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 21, 2025 at 9:00am at St. Elias Maronite Catholic Church, 4730 Cove Road, Roanoke, VA 24017 followed by burial at St. Andrew's Diocesan Cemetery.
