William Leonard Foley, age 81 of Vinton and formerly of Henry County passed away Saturday, May 13, 2023. He was preceded in death by his parents, William Albert Foley and Mary Stultz Foley; infant brother, Randolph Foley; and sisters, Nancy Witcher, Mary Natoli and Betsy Branch. He is survived by his wife, Sandi Foley; children, Sharon Foley and Randy Foley; step-children, Steve Dudley, Lisa Spangler (Vance) and Lori Oyler; grandchildren, Brandon Spangler, Taylor Spangler, Kassie Adkins, Gabe Dudley and Josh Dudley; great-grandchildren, Piper Jo Adkins, Holland Reign Chandler, Phoenix Jade Adkins, Beckett Thomas Chandler; sister, Ruby Carter (George); along with numerous nieces and nephews. Leonard worked in Human Resources for 45 years with several companies in Henry County. He was a Boy Scout Leader in Collinsville with Troop 67 winning several awards including the Silver Beaver Award and Order of the Arrow. Leonard was Past President of the Human Resources Association in Martinsville/Henry County and was a member of Sounds of Faith Gospel Group for 45 years. He was also a drummer in a Jazz band during his younger years. His true passion was preaching the Gospel. For over 40 years, Leonard served several denominations throughout Henry County, Franklin County and Botetourt County. He loved fishing, storytelling, boating, camping, gardening, genealogy and anything outdoors. Flowers will be accepted or memorial donations may be made to Boones Mill Church of the Brethren, 25366 Virgil Goode Highway, Boones Mill VA 24065. Funeral services will be held at Flora Funeral Chapel 1:00 p.m. Wednesday, May 17, 2023 with Pastor Roy McVey officiating. Interment will follow in Mountain View Memorial Park. His family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
