Frances "Ann" Crabtree Armstrong
Frances “Ann” Crabtree Armstrong, 86, passed away on Thursday, May 16, 2024. She was born on May 26, 1937, in War, West Virginia, to the late Arthur Dean Collins and Olga Oras Sizemore Collins. In addition to her parents, she is preceded in death by her first husband, Estel Crabtree; second husband, John Armstrong; son, Scott Dean Crabtree; brother, Art Collins; sister, Carol Collins; and stepson, Estel Crabtree, Jr.
She attended Bluefield State College where she earned her bachelor’s degree in nursing. She was a Registered Nurse for 50 years. Frances was a member of McCabe Memorial Baptist Church where she served in various capacities. In her spare time, Frances enjoyed running and bird watching. She was active in Sertoma and several woman’s clubs.
Frances leaves behind the following legacy; son, Dr. Mark Crabtree (Rebecca); daughter, Ann Huffman (Rick); four grandchildren, Steven Gillispie (Jessica), Stephanie Rogers (Reid), Sarah Curtis (Ben), and Virginia Seldowitz (Sam); seven great-grandchildren, Carly, Ryan, Nathan, Carter Grace, Barrett, Karsyn, and Teagan; sisters, Mary Alice Bowman, and Ruth Brown; brother, Harvey Collins; stepdaughter, Joy Mize (Ramie); step grandsons, Josh, Andrew, Chris, and Jason; and a host of other family and friends.
There will be a funeral service on Tuesday, May 21, 2024, at 11:00 PM, at Bassett Funeral Service, with Carolyn Winstead Bagley officiating. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. A burial will follow on Friday, May 24, 2024, at 12:00 PM, at Roselawn Cemetery, at 450 Courthouse Road Princeton, West Virginia, 24740.
