Frances Jo Arrington
In Loving Memory of Frances Jo Arrington
Frances Jo Arrington was born in Rock Springs, Wyoming, and lived a life filled with love, creativity, and deep faith. She had three beloved sisters—Mary Lee Sinclair, Dawn Bersche, and Margaret Allen—who all passed before her. Strong and independent, Fran found joy in life’s simple and beautiful moments.
She was a devoted mother to her daughter, Linda Garraghty, who considered her mom her best friend. Linda always turned to Fran whenever she needed anything, knowing she would find love, wisdom, and unwavering support. Fran’s love for her family shaped not just their lives but also their future—she was the reason they settled in Virginia, creating a home filled with warmth and connection.
She was a loving grandmother to Wendy and Ed Pascual, Lara and Bryan Burford, and Josh and Tori Garraghty. She was also a cherished great-grandmother to Lily Pascual, Layla, Grayson, and Elyse Burford, Deja Stevenson, and Jade and Avyn Garraghty. Though her great-grandson Tyler Burford is no longer with us, we take comfort in knowing they are reunited.
Music was one of Fran’s greatest joys. She sang in the choir, lifting her voice in praise, and passed that love down through generations. Wendy treasures the songs her grandmother taught her—melodies that still live in her heart. Fran was also there the day Wendy was baptized in Bedford Lake, her presence, prayers, and unwavering faith making the moment even more meaningful.
Faith was the foundation of Fran’s life. She taught Sunday school for many years at Mount Hermon Baptist Church, sharing her love of the Lord with generations of children. Her kindness, lessons, and steadfast belief left a lasting impact on her church community.
Beyond her love of music and faith, Fran was a gifted homemaker and an enthusiastic hostess. She loved throwing parties, decorating for holidays, and making every gathering feel special. Whether crafting, cooking, or canning, she poured her creativity into everything she did. Every holiday was an event, every meal a labor of love, and every celebration a reflection of her generous spirit. Among her many culinary talents, she made the absolute best homemade ketchup—a family favorite.
Caring for others was at the heart of who Fran was. She played a significant role in raising her grandchildren, Wendy, Lara, and Josh, as well as her nephews, David and Kevin Arrington. Later, she cared for her great-grandchildren, Layla, Grayson, and Elyse, ensuring they were surrounded by love from the very beginning.
She had a way of making life magical, especially for the children in her family. There was nothing Fran couldn’t create with her hands and her imagination. She sewed, crafted, and built whatever was needed—from handmade dolls to forts made out of cardboard boxes for her great-grandchildren. She once made a Statue of Liberty costume for Lara and a He-Man costume for Josh, but those were just two of countless creations. Whether it was a costume, a keepsake, or something to spark joy, she made everything with love, turning the ordinary into something extraordinary.
Though she is no longer with us, we find peace knowing she is in the presence of the Lord, singing in the heavenly choir. Her love, her songs, and the joy she brought into our lives will never fade. We carry her with us in our hearts, in the memories she left behind, and in the love she so freely gave.
A memorial service will be held on Saturday, March 29th, at 2:00 PM at Bethany Methodist Church, 1720 Bethany Church Cir, Forest, VA 24551.
Rest in peace, Fran. You were loved beyond words and will be missed beyond measure.
