Frances Wilmoth Bowman

Frances Wilmoth Bowman, 85, of Danville Virginia passed away Friday, May 17, 2024 at Riverside Health & Rehabilitation of Danville. Mrs. Bowman was born December 31, 1938 in Pittsylvania County, VA to the late Elwood Wilmoth and the late Alyne Frances McBride Wilmoth. She was married to the late Charles Edward Bowman. Mrs. Bowman was a founding member of Faith Memorial Baptist Church where she taught Sunday School for over 50 years. She was the Choir Director of the church for a number of years. She worked for over 40 years at Dan River Mills, Inc, prior to her retirement. Mrs. Bowman was a loving wife, mother, grandmother and great-grandmother, as well as a friend to many. She will be remembered as a caring individual who was adored by all she came into contact with.

She is survived by her children, Charles Edward Bowman, Jr. (Lou) of Ringgold, VA, Randall Elwood Bowman (Pam) of Brosville, VA, and Gwen Thompson (J.C.) of Danville. Her surviving brothers include Bill Wilmoth (LaVerne) of Ringgold and Richard Wilmoth (Marianna) of Danville. Her grandchildren include Joey Thompson (Kristen), Tyler Bowman, Laura Parrish (Scott), and Chaz Bowman, (Ashley), as well as eight great-grandchildren.

Funeral services will be conducted Tuesday, May 21, 2024, 2:00 p.m. at Faith Memorial Baptist Church, Danville, Virginia officiated by Pastor Daniel Lackey. Interment will follow the funeral service at Danville Memorial Gardens, Danville. The family will receive friends at the church two hours prior to the funeral service, from 12:00 – 2:00 P.M, also at Faith Memorial Baptist. At other times, the family will receive friends at the home of her daughter, Gwen Thompson.
