Fred Milton Overstreet

July 27, 1947 - April 9, 2026

Freddie “Fred” Milton Overstreet, 78, of Blue Ridge, Virginia, went to be with the Lord peacefully at his home, surrounded by family, in the early hours of April 9, 2026.

Born on July 27, 1947, in Roanoke, Virginia, Freddie spent most of his life in Blue Ridge.

To know Freddie was to love him—he lit up every room he entered with his bright smile and warm spirit. Above all, he was a man of strong faith who loved the Lord deeply. Freddie walked through life guided by Jesus, finding strength, comfort, and purpose in his faith each day. He especially cherished spending time with his family, who meant the world to him.

Freddie built a successful career working on roofs and installing siding alongside his son, Wesley, through his company, “Freddie’s Construction.” He was a hardworking man who found joy in fixing anything. Whether working on antique cars, tending to projects in the yard, or improving a home, Freddie had a gift for making things right.

A man of many passions, Freddie loved flatfooting, watching NASCAR, dining at hometown diners, hunting, and—most importantly—getting dressed up and enjoying a night out on the town.

He was preceded in death by his stepdaughter, Lois Potter; granddaughter, Ashley Barton; brothers, George Overstreet and James Overstreet; sisters, Justine McKee and Claudine Lipscomb; and his parents, George and Gladys Overstreet.

Freddie is survived by his loving and devoted companion of 28 years, Lorri Quesenberry; his son, Wesley Overstreet (Stephanie); stepdaughter, Kathy Rice; his granddaughters, Carly Overstreet and Olivia Ellis (Scott); and his grandsons, Justin Barton (Amber), Chase Potter (Mitsy), Brandon Rice, and Braxton Rice; great grandchildren, Sadie Grace Ellis, Luke Stockton, Lydia Barton, and Maya Potter; his sister, Linda Chewning; along with several nieces, and nephews.

Freddie will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him, but his memory will live on in the hearts of those he touched.

The family will have a Visitation on Sunday, April 12, 2026 from 4:00 – 6:00pm at Simpson Funeral Home, 5160 Peters Creek Road, Roanoke, VA 24019. A Chapel Service will be held on Monday, April 13, 2026 at 2:00pm, also at the funeral home, and then processing to Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
