Freemont Richard Knick

January 11, 1942 - October 12, 2024

Freemont Richard Knick Jr., 82, passed away peacefully into the loving arms of his Heavenly Father at Sovah Health Hospital, Danville, VA on October 12, 2024. He was born on January 11, 1942 to the late Trever Money Knick and the late Freemont Richard Knick Sr. He is survived by his loving wife of 63 years, Mrs. Merilyn Anita Knick.

Richard was of the Christian Faith and a faithful member of Lighthouse Bible Church. He worked for 19 years as a State Trooper for the Virginia State Police, previous to his retirement. He was a member of the VA State Police Association. He loved farming and gardening and working in the yard. He was a loving Father and Grandfather and loved all his family.

In addition to his wife, Richard is survived by two daughters; Sherry Hardison and husband Donald of Danville, VA, and Deanne Vito and husband Emanuel of Wake Forest, NC; a sister; Lola Gede; four grandchildren; Marissa Dumont (Matthew), Greyson Hardison, Alexandra Wilson, and Abigail Wilson; and three step grandchildren; Joseph, Benjamin and Katie Vito.

In addition to his parents, Richard was predeceased by three brothers; Curtis, Elmer and Pete Knick.

A Funeral service will be held on Wednesday, October 16, 2024 at 2:00pm with Pastor Lee Rigsby officiating, at Norris West End Chapel, Danville, VA. Interment will follow at Danville Memorial Gardens Mausoleum. A visitation will be held on the same day previous to the service from 1-2:00pm, also at Norris West End Chapel. At other times, the family will receive friends at the residence.
