Gary L. Thompson

Gary L Thompson, 83, of Salem passed away on February 13, 2025.

Gary was born in Wyoming on September 21, 1941 to Dan Thompson and Connie Rasnake Thompson, both deceased. He was also preceded in death by his wife, Margaret Puckett Thompson; brother, Danny Jo Thompson; special brothers-in-law, Danny Puckett and Allen Puckett; and nephew, Chuck Clendenin. Gary served in the United States Army. He was a member of the Moose Lodge and American Legion. Gary loved to play golf and enjoyed dogs, especially his beloved Molly.

Those left to cherish his memory are his nieces, Ginny Thompson of Union Hall, VA, Misty Reynolds and husband Larry Reynolds of Portland, Oregon, and Jennifer Davidson and husband Tracy Davidson of Pounding Mill, VA; nephews, Joey Puckett and wife Cindy Puckett of Bandy, VA and Brian Clendenin and wife Theresa of North Tazewell, VA; sisters-in-law, Geraldine Puckett of North Tazewell, VA and Shirley McReynolds and husband Paul of North Tazewell, VA; multiple great nieces and nephews; and special friends and neighbors, Larry and Karen Peterson.

A graveside service will be held at a later date in Greenhills Memory Gardens, Claypool Hill, VA.
