Gary Smith

Gary Wayne “Goose” Smith, age 68, of 1711 Crooked Spur Road in Millboro, Virginia died Sunday, August 13, 2023 at his residence.
Goose was born June 24, 1955 in Clifton Forge, Virginia to the late Godfrey Dale Francis Smith and Ruth Elizabeth McAllister Smith. He was a carpenter who worked for the Local 319 Carpenters Union before his retirement and was a faithful member of the Millboro Volunteer Fire Department. He attended Millboro Christian Church, loved to fish, and also enjoyed helping other people.
In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his brother, Mike Smith.
He is survived by a brother, Kirk Smith and wife Tammy of Craigsville; a number of nieces, nephews, and cousins; and special friends, Michael Vess, Renee Ingram, Jonathan Rowe, Danny Ray Roberts, and Dusty Vess.
A funeral service will be held on Friday, August 18, 2023 at 2:00 PM in Millboro Christian Church, Millboro with Reverend Lloyd Via officiating. Interment will follow in Millboro Christian Cemetery. Pallbearers will be Michael Vess, Jonathan Rowe, Dusty Vess, Ernie Deel, Darrell Vess, Bill Grimm, Danny Ray Roberts, and Donald Kennedy. The family will receive friends on Friday afternoon from 12:30 PM until the time of service at the church and other times at the home of Michael Vess, Church Street, Millboro.
