Geary Lee Smith

Geary Lee Smith, 70, of Bassett, Virginia, passed away on Saturday, April 5, 2025, at Sovah Health-Martinsville. He was born on May 15, 1954, to the late Ralph N. Smith and Evelyn S. Smith.

A dedicated and hardworking man, Geary was self-employed and owned his own construction company. He was deeply committed to his work and was known for his strong work ethic and reliability.

Geary is survived by his beloved dog, Tokey Smith; his life partner, Kathryn Trent; and special friends Roy Johnston, David Handy, Mary Barbour, Gabriel Barbour, Patricia Miller, Lori Dodson, and Kenneth Burgart.

A funeral service will be held on Thursday, April 10, 2025, at 12 Noon at Bassett Funeral Service Chapel. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service. Burial will follow at Blackberry Baptist Church Cemetery.
