Gene Patrick Stuckey

April 16, 1941 - April 4, 2025

Gene’s last train ride was to heaven on May 4, 2025. He was born on April 16, 1941, at Fairmont, West Virginia. He is survived by his wife, Linda Payne Stuckey, of 45 years. He is also survived by a sister, Suzanne Stuckey Furman of Tampa, Florida, her children Stephen, Carl, Sharon and Eric and their children; and sister Vicki Stuckey Anderson and her husband Bill, their children Jennifer, Courtney, and Lindsey and their children.

Preceding him in death were his parents: Charles William Stuckey and Helen Michael Stuckey. His father worked for the B&O railroad for 40 years. So Gene’s love of trains began at an early age.

Gene and his wife rode excursion trains and Amtrak throughout the United States. They also rode trains in Alaska, Panama, Mexico, Canada, England, Wales, Scotland, Ireland, Switzerland, France, Holland, Luxemburg, Belgium, Italy, Norway, Costa Rico and the Island of St. Kitts in the Caribbean.

As part of his legacy, an endowed fund will be donated to the Museum of Transportation.

He was a long time member of Green Memorial United Methodist Church. The funeral will be held at Evergreen’s Mausoleum at 11:00 a.m. on Thursday, April 10. Instead of flowers, he would like donations be made to the Museum of Transportation in memory of him. Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home Peters Creek Road Chapel. (540)366-0707.
