George Dewey Robbins

December 3, 1938 - February 24, 2025

George Dewey Robbins of Glade Hill, Virginia, passed away on February 24, 2025, at the age of 86. Born in Quincy, Massachusetts on December 3, 1938 to Harold Sr. and Blanche Robbins, George lived a rich and varied life.

Growing up in the Wollaston section of Quincy, Massachusetts, George was a proud graduate of North Quincy High School and Dean Junior College. He served his country honorably in the United States Army and was a long-time member of the Freemasons.

George's professional life was as diverse as his interests. Over the course of his career, he worked as a salesman, mechanic/service station owner, and machinist. His entrepreneurial spirit also led him into real estate as a broker, and in his later years, George embraced the open road as a long-haul trucker.

An avid outdoorsman, George loved skiing, fishing, and hunting. He especially cherished his ski trips with the "Stone Hutters" to Stowe, Vermont, where 30+ years of camaraderie and themed costumes created friendships and memories that lasted a lifetime.

George was preceded in death by his parents, Harold Sr. and Blanche Robbins, and his brothers Harold Jr. and Richard. He leaves behind his devoted sons Greg {Andrea) of Marshfield, Massachusetts, and Chris {Jill) of Abington, Massachusetts. George's greatest joy and pride were his five grandchildren: Jack, Catherine, Andrew, Sam, and Caroline, who will miss their Grampa G.

A private celebration of George's life will be held later in the spring. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations in George's memory be made to Breakthrough T1D {formerly JDRF). Arrangements by Simpson Funeral Home Electric Road Chapel. (540)632-4200
