George E. St. Clair
It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of George Edward St. Clair on October 27, 2023, at the age of 80. He left us peacefully, surrounded by his loved ones.
George was born on February 22, 1943, in Roanoke Virginia to Clarence and Effie St. Clair. He was a beloved husband to Lorraine St. Clair, a devoted father to Melissa Bayne, and a cherished Papa to Jessica and Brian Wolfe. He was a wonderful friend and neighbor to many.
He touched the lives of so many with his stories of times past and his determination to fix anything put in front of him. He had a passion for antique vehicles, gardening, and landscaping. He was a staple in his neighborhood and provided lawn care for up to seventeen neighbors at one point in his later seventies.
George was preceded in death by his parents Clarence and Effie St. Clair, his daughter Melissa Bayne, brothers Robert, David, Buford, and Kenny, and sisters Dot Clark and Josephine Martin. He is survived by his loving wife of 61 years, Lorraine St. Clair, precious little dog Sophie, Granddaughter Jessica Wolfe and her husband Brian, sisters Jaunita Davis, Phyllis Dimmick (Chuck), brother Paul, special sister-in-law Jean St. Clair, many nieces and nephews, best friend and neighbor Paul Webb, friend and neighbor Perrie Powers and many other special friends throughout his neighborhood.
The family will hold a visitation to celebrate George's life on Saturday November 4th from 1-3 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home in Salem. All friends and family are welcome to attend and pay their respects.
In lieu of flowers, the family kindly requests that donations be made to your local animal shelter. George was a lover of animals and would love to know that animals were fed and cared for in his honor.
The family would like to express their gratitude to Carilion Roanoke Memorial Hospital staff, and a special thank you to Dr. Flood, for their compassionate care in his final days.
George will be dearly missed but his memory will live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved him.
