George Lee Loving
George Lee Loving, 64, of Amherst, passed away at his residence on Thursday, March 27, 2025. Born in Honolulu, Hawaii on October 3, 1960, he was the son of the late Aubrey Lee Loving, Jr. and Shelby Jean Hatter Bryant.
George proudly served his country in the United States Army, where he dedicated 26 years of service and retired as a Communications Specialist. After his military retirement, he spent 14 years serving as a correctional officer with the Blue Ridge Regional Jail Authority. Known for his work ethic and dedication, George’s career reflected his deep commitment to his community and country. Outside of his professional life, George enjoyed spending time outdoors, finding peace and joy in nature. Above all, his family was the heart of his life, and he lived with a strong and unwavering Christian faith.
George is survived by his daughter, Heather Loving of Amherst; his son, David Loving (Barbara) of Las Vegas, NV; and five beloved grandchildren, Aiden Lenneman, Isaiah Bell, Bear Sandifer, Brody Thomas, and Lily Loving. He is also survived by his former spouse, Tammy Loving; his brother, Tony Martin; and his sister, Tamara Williams, as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins, and extended family and friends who will forever cherish his memory.
The family will receive friends on Sunday, April 6, 2025 from 3 to 5 pm at Whitten Monelison Chapel.
Graveside services will be conducted on Monday, April 7, 2025 at the Virginia Veteran’s Cemetery in Amelia, VA, with military honors.
