George Perry Bratton

January 24, 1961 - July 18, 2025

George “Perry” Bratton, 64, passed away on July 18, 2025, after a long and difficult journey marked by both struggle and heartache. He was born on January 24, 1961 to Patricia Clark Bratton and the late Marvin T. Bratton. He was also preceded in death by a son, Jacob Bratton and a brother, Mark Bratton.

Though life was not always easy for him, Perry was a deeply intelligent man with a sharp mind and a passion for history and sports. He had an incredible memory and could talk for hours about the past – whether it was a historical event, a classic game, or stories from his own life.

In recent years, Perry had professed his belief in Jesus Christ, and in the days before his passing, he reaffirmed his faith. Though his path in life was difficult, he found comfort and peace in his relationship with God, and his family takes solace in knowing he is now at rest.

The greatest joy in his life was his son, Jacob, whom he loved dearly. Jacob’s passing a few years ago was a loss from which Perry never fully recovered. Despite the pain he carried, he remained loyal to those he cared about, always showing compassion to those around him.

In addition to his mother, Patricia Clark Bratton, he will be missed and remembered by his brothers, William Keith Bratton (Kamonchanok), and Paul Bratton (Kimberly); sister-in-law, Debbie Bratton; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and other loving family and friends.

Graveside services will be held at 2 p.m. on Friday, July 25, 2025 at Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens with Rev. Mark Washington officiating. The family will speak to guests following the service.
