George Pete Stevenson

George Pete Stevenson, 77, passed away peacefully on March 31, 2026, surrounded by his loving family. Pete was born in Grundy, VA on April 7, 1948, to the late Ocie Faye Clevinger Stevenson and the late Earl Steveneson. He is also predeceased by his loving wife of many years, Mrs. Katie Crumpton Stevenson.

Pete was a member of Hillcrest Baptist Church, where he served on the deacon board. Pete proudly served his country in the U.S. Marines during the Vietnam Era. He worked for many years as a Quality Control Analyst for Goodyear Tire and Rubber Company, previous to his retirement.

Pete is survived by two daughters; April Stevenson and Sandy Higdon (W.T.), both of Danville, VA; a son; Stevie Stevenson of Danville, VA; grandchildren, Kyleigh Stevenson, Brynlee Stevenson, Bryan Largen, Joshua Shelton, Abby Vernon, Carter Higdon, Tyler Campbell, and Preston Campbell; and two great-grandchildren, Braxton Vernon and Chloe Vernon.

In addition to his parents and wife, Pete was predeceased by two brothers; Donny Harold Stevenson and James Stevenson; three sisters; Shirley Fain, Jean Akers, and Ruby Stevenson; and daughter in law: Leighann Stevenson.

A Funeral Service will be conducted on Friday, April 3, 2026, at 2:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA with Pastor Bob Yeaman officiating. Interment will follow at Highland Burial Park. A visitation will be held on the same day, just prior to the service from 1-2:00pm at Norris Mt. Hermon Chapel, Danville, VA.
