Gerald Ray Hill

Gerald Ray Hill Sr., 70, of Bassett, VA passed away peacefully at his home on December 9, 2024 surrounded by his close family. He was born to the late Harry Hill and Carlene Palmer in Rockingham County, NC. In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife of 45 years, Janice; brother Michael Hill; and sister Kimberly Anderson.

He is survived by his daughters Tammy Dalton (Michael), and Amanda Spencer (Ryan); son Gerald Hill Jr. (Rita); and sister Wanda Soyars. He is also survived by his grandchildren Haley Dalton, Michaela Dalton, Taylor Hill, Callie Williams, and Benjamin Spencer; and his beloved 4-legged companion “Scooter”.

He was an avid NASCAR fan who rooted for the #3. He enjoyed watching his Denver Broncos on Sunday afternoons. But his greatest joy was spending time with his grandchildren. You could always count on him for a laugh, and he was never shy about sharing his sense of humor.

As a traditionally private man and in order to honor his wishes, services will be private.
