Geraldine Loving

Geraldine Curtis Loving died on Thursday, February 5, 2026 at the Brian Center in Low Moor, Virginia. She was born Charlotte Geraldine Curtis on July 23, 1938 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Lewis Oscar Curtis and Blanche Bell Nicely Curtis.

She was a lifelong resident of the Alleghany Highlands and member of Lone Star Advent Christian Church, the church choir, and the Celebration Choir. In 1999 she retired from Dabney S. Lancaster Community College (now Mountain Gateway Community College) after 21 years of service to the business department. Prior to that she was employed by Westvaco (now Smurfit Westrock). She graduated from Phillips Business College in Lynchburg, Virginia and Central High School in Low Moor, Virginia, where she was class valedictorian.

She was preceded in death by her husband of 41 years, Edward Marvin Loving; brothers Lewis Ollie Curtis, Quincy Leroy Curtis, Sgt. Kenneth Layfayette Curtis, Cleveland Curtis, Cletus Waynell Curtis, Grayson Armadale Curtis Sr., Carlos Wayne Curtis; sisters Mabel Alta Curtis Waters and Laura Evelyn Curtis Persinger; and a son-in-law Edgar Ray Meadows II.

She is survived by; a son Bruce Edward Loving; a daughter Karen Loving Meadows Towe and son-in-law Brian Lee Towe; a son Kenneth Alan Loving and daughter-in-law Dianne Bazzrea Loving; a grandson Matthew Blake Meadows, granddaughter-in-law Amy Bowers Meadows and great granddaughter Mallory Rae Meadows; a grandson Jacob Alan Meadows and granddaughter-in-law Molly Jean Howe Meadows; a granddaughter Emily Ann Loving Gibson, a grandson-in-law Dustin Hunter Gibson, and a great-grandson Owen Alan Gibson; a granddaughter Sarah Grace Loving Kimberlin and grandson-in-law Blake Alexander Kimberlin; a brother Paul Collins (“P.C.”) Curtis and sister-in-law Birdie Dobbs Curtis; sisters-in-law Cynthia (“Cindy”) Walton Curtis, Nancy Harless Curtis, Clo Angle, Barbara Loving, Beverly Nicely, and Sandy Montgomery; a special niece who was more of a sister, Brenda Higgins; three special family members who called her “Mother” -- Carrie Jo Reynolds Washington, Susan Ann Reynolds, and Laura Jean Reynolds; nieces; nephews; cousins; extended family members; friends; colleagues; and caregivers.

The family will receive visitors starting at 12:30 pm on Sunday, February 8, 2026 at Nicely Funeral Home in Clifton Forge followed by funeral service in the chapel at 2:00 p.m. with the Rev. Douglas Moore officiating. A post funeral soup-and-sandwich gathering will follow at the Family Life Center at Lone Star Advent Christian Church. A private graveside interment will be conducted at a later date in Central Advent Christian Cemetery in Clifton Forge due to weather conditions at the cemetery.
