Gladys Martin Walker

Gladys Martin Walker, age 92, of Martinsville, Virginia passed away on Sunday, May 18, 2025, at Sovah Hospital, Martinsville. She was born on February 14, 1933, to the late Ellis Martin and Ora Setliff Martin. She volunteered for many years at the Memorial Hospital after retiring from a career of being a homemaker and working part-time at Revco. Gladys was a charter member and elder with the First Presbyterian Church of Collinsville.

In addition to her parents, she was predeceased by her husband of 71 years, Donald W. Walker, and her son, Alex B. Walker, six sisters, Algie Hall, Eulalah Koger, Naalma Hylton, Louise Burch, Dorothy Martin, and Elaine Lemons, and three brothers, Lawrence, Lonnie, and Glen Martin, and one sister-in-law, Edith Slaughter Maxwell.

Surviving are two daughters, Charlene (Fred) Bowling of Martinsville, and Donna (Robert) Carter of Halifax, VA, five grandchildren, 4 great grandchildren, one brother-in-law, William Lemons of Greensboro, NC, and numerous nieces and nephews.

Services for Gladys at Collins-McKee-Stone Funeral Home at 109 Broad Street, Martinsville, will include visitation at 12PM on Friday, May 23rd, and a funeral at 1PM. Burial will follow at Roselawn Burial Park.
