Glenda Couch Shrader
Glenda Couch Shrader passed away May 14, 2023, age 84, due to heart and lung problems.She never forgot her humble beginnings as a “coal miner’s daughter.”Born in Hardy, Kentucky on November 29, 1938, she was the eldest daughter of Farley and Bonnie Couch.
Glenda is preceded in death by her parents; her beloved husband, Graydon; brother, Billy; nephew Bryan; and dog, “Buster”, who was her constant companion for 15 years.
Remembering Glenda are her wonderful children, Kevin and Sally Shrader, Todd and Valerie Shrader; grandson, Logon Shrader; granddaughter, Morgan Shrader; great-grandson, Joey; sisters, Brenda Smith and Linda (Carrie) Caldwell; sister-in-law, Jean Couch; step-mother-in-law, Maxine; brothers and sisters-in-law, Paul, Linda, Betty, Wayne and Donald from South Carolina; an abundance of nieces and nephews who were always helpful to her; devoted friends, Jean Vincel, Betsy Link, Shelia Collins, Doris Link, Janice Hypes, Eleanor Link, and Pam Pettit; and a special cat, Patches.
Glenda loved cooking and making her famous “pound cake”, always trying new hobbies; flowers were a specialty; gardening; crafts, sewing; and needlework; always looking for a rainbow; loved butterflies; her community and a good joke.
There will be a funeral service conducted for Glenda on Thursday, May 18, 2023 at 11:00 AM in the Kendall Funeral Home Chapel with Roger Henderson officiating.Following the services, she will be laid to rest with Graydon in Birchlawn Abbey.The family will receive friends in Kendall Funeral Home and Wednesday, May 17, 2023 from 5:00 PM until 7:00 PM.In lieu of flowers, please give a donation to the Newport Volunteer Fire Department or the Newport Volunteer Rescue Squad.A guestbook is available to send condolences by visitingwww.kendallfuneralhome.com.The staff of Kendall Funeral Home are honored to serve the Shrader family.
