Glenn Cannaday

Glenn Cannaday, age 81 of Rocky Mount went to his Heavenly Home Tuesday, February 28, 2023. He was born May 10, 1941 in Ferrum Virginia to the late Oscar Flemon Cannaday Sr. and Bessie Farner Cannaday. In addition to his parents, he was preceded by brothers, Eric Maldon Cannaday, Oscar F. Cannaday Jr.; a sister, Mildred Cleo Haynes; and grandson Konner Reid Sturgill. Glenn was a loving husband, father, grandfather and friend to all who knew him. He was the owner and operator of Bowling’s Place where he truly enjoyed serving the community and made many lifelong friends there. Glenn was a member of Fairview Church of the Brethren, a member of Waidsboro Ruritan Club and Ponderosa Hunt Club. He enjoyed fishing, hunting and car races. Left to cherish his memory is his loving wife of 34 years, Betty Guilliams Cannaday; children, Glenn Daryl Cannaday and wife Karen, Glennda Cannaday Morse and husband Tommy, Jeff Young and wife April and  Kim Bernard and husband Bo; grandchildren, Kristen Carter Giarla (Jon), Zachary Morse, Caitlyn Cannaday King (Ryan) Jayden Bernard, Jordan Bernard, Jayce Bernard, Tori Young, Taylor Young, Brian Hall, Chelsea Austin, Jessica Hayse (Jeb) and Jennifer Rakes; great-grandchildren, Matthew Giarla, Hudson Giarla and Noah Glenn Giarla; and many nieces, nephews and cousins. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials be made to Fairview Church of the Brethren or Waidsboro Ruritan Club. Memorial services will be conducted at Flora Funeral Chapel 2:00 p.m. Saturday, March 4, 2023 with Rev. Jeff Wray officiating. His family will receive friends one hour prior to services at Flora Funeral Service and Cremation Center, Rocky Mount.
