Gloria Jean Beasley
Gloria Jean Beasley, 74, of Vinton was received to her heavenly home in the arms of her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on October 17, 2024. Gloria was born on April 14, 1950, in Bedford, Virginia. She was preceded in death by her parents Henry D. Dooley and Rebecca Foutz Dooley, her husband of 49 years, Bucky Beasley; a son Brad Henry Beasley; brothers, Tommy Dooley and wife, Jackie, and Tony Dooley; her sisters, Marilyn D. Hartman, Charlotte D. Cundiff and husband, Michael “Cuda” Cundiff and Judy D. Fisher and husband, Wayne; brother-in-law and sister-in-law, David Bowman and wife, Bridgie; niece, Melissa Cundiff; nephew, Jason Winters.
Gloria was the matriarch of her family and the first born of seven siblings she became a mother figure to everyone who knew her. Over the years she had many roles as a babysitter, personal care attendant, mother, aunt, grandmother, sister and friend. She was a devoted Christian and loved the Lord and loved to share the message of love and hope and lived by the example of God’s Love. She was a proud momma of her two boys and especially a proud grandma.
Gloria had a way with people in her community. Her ministry was her love for cooking and baking often called the “Paula Dean of her family”. She spent so much of her time making poundcakes, cheesecakes and fresh sourdough bread this was her passion. Gloria loved her church family, songs, flowers, butterflies her family and reading her bible.
Gloria is survived by her son, Taft Beasley and girlfriend, Jennifer of Vinton; grandson, Aiden Beasley and his mother, Angela Giles both of Vinton; sister, Bonnie D. Winters and husband, Jesse Winters of Roanoke; also surviving nieces and nephews Teresa Lawhorn and husband, Doug of Vinton, Sheree Hartman and Chuck of Vinton, Robbie Hartman of Roanoke, Robin Hartman of Vinton, Beth Cundiff of Vinton, Rebecca Winters of Roanoke, Jenifer Fisher of Roanoke, Christopher Dooley of Roanoke, Colby Dooley of Vinton, Angela Bowman of Roanoke and Todd Bowman of Vinton; and her special grand pup and constant companion Koda.
The family will receive friends Sunday, October 20, 2024, from 2 to 5 pm, at Lotz Funeral Home 3055 E. Washington Ave., Vinton. A graveside service celebrating Gloria’s life will be held at 1:00 pm, Monday, October 21 at Jordantown Memorial Gardens, 5663 Jordantown Road, Vinton.
