Gloria Jean (Boyd) Jones Pipes

Mrs. Gloria Jean Boyd Jones Pipes, age 76 of Mount Airy, passed away on Monday, February 2, 2026 at Surry Community Health Center by Harborview surrounded by her loving family. Mrs. Pipes was born on May 8, 1949, in Surry County, to the late John and Alta Quesinberry Boyd. Jean was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother; sister, and friend. She will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved her. Surviving are her daughters, Lisa Presslar Schonknecht, Hope Presslar Crutti; son Charles “Charlie” Presslar; six grandchildren, Joseph Schonknecht, Kara Presslar, Jay “JJ” Crutti, Bryson Gravley, Delaney Presslar, Dodge Presslar; several great-grandchildren; three sisters and brothers-in-law, Linda Boyd Lee and Jack, Evelyn Boyd Tickle and Fred, Shelia Boyd Hardy and Richard; brother and sister-in-law, Thomas “Tommy” Boyd and Teresa; along with many nieces and nephews. In addition to her parents, Mrs. Pipes was preceded in death by her husband, Leo Pipes; and a sister, Judy Boyd Barker. A memorial service will be held on Friday, February 13, 2026, at 2:00 PM at Moody Funeral Home Chapel in Mount Airy with Dr. Jonathan Casstevens officiating. The family will receive friends on Friday, February 13, 2026, at Moody Funeral Home from 1:00 PM until the time of the service. The family would like to extend a heartfelt thank you to the staff of Surry Community Health Center by Harborview and Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care for the compassionate care provided to Mrs. Pipes. Flowers will be accepted, or memorial donations may be made to Mountain Valley Hospice and Palliative Care, P.O. Box 325, Dobson, North Carolina 27017. Moody Funeral Services in Mount Airy have been entrusted with the arrangement.
