Gregory Dale Obenchain

Gregory Dale Obenchain, Sr., 65, passed away peacefully at Carilion New River Valley Medical Center on Sunday, May 25, 2025.

After an incredible 30 years of dedicated service, he retired from the Virginia Department of Transportation (VDOT)!

Greg is preceded in death by his parents, Lucille Ann Reese and Lewis Dale Obenchain; brother, Richard Lee Obenchain.

Left to cherish his memory include his fiancée, Lisa Rumburg of 17 years; sons, Michael Wayne Obenchain and wife, Angie, Gregory Dale Obenchain II, John Wayne Obenchain and wife, Cierra, Jasper Ray Obenchain, Clinton Horace Jack Obenchain, and Curtis Womack; grandchildren, Aiyana Obenchain, Gregory Rylan Obenchain, Lila Sage Obenchain; sister, Teresa Lucado and her husband, Bruce, Karen Woolwine and her husband, Chuck; as well as numerous nieces, nephews, cousins and lifelong friends.

The family would like to thank the doctors and staff at the Cancer Care Center, as well as Carilion New River Valley Medical Care Center.

Friends may visit with the family from 6 p.m. – 8 p.m. on Thursday, May 29, 2025, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel. The service is scheduled for Friday, May 30, 2025, at 2 p.m., followed by an interment at Cedar Lawn Memorial Park.
