Gregory "Greg" Harold Jarvis

- October 27, 2023

In loving memory of Gregory “Greg” Harold Jarvis, who passed away peacefully on October 27, 2023, after a valiant battle with cancer. Born on August 12, 1973, in Roanoke, Virginia, Greg was the oldest son of Mary Gale and Harold “Hal” Jarvis. He lived a life filled with the wisdom of self-teaching, unwavering faith, and the unconditional love of his family. Greg is preceded in death by his father, Hal Jarvis. He is survived by his wife, Anna Gammon Jarvis, their three children, Joseph, Madelyn, and Eliot, his mother, Gale, and his brother, Steve, in addition to many cherished aunts, uncles, and cousins who have remained a significant part of his life since childhood. Greg served with distinction aboard the USS John C. Stennis as part of the US Navy, before returning to Roanoke to build a home and life with his high school sweetheart, Anna. They navigated life’s highs and lows for three decades, a testament to steadfast love and understanding. Greg was a devoted father to Joe, Maddie, and Eliot. They will forever cherish memories of bike rides, camping trips, hunting at dawn, nerf gun battles, lessons on the stick shift, and serene moments fishing on the river. When Greg’s illness led him to an early retirement in February of this year, he was just shy of working 25 years at Yokohama Tire Factory. It was there he fostered deep-rooted connections with many coworkers, who became a beacon of friendship and support during his most challenging days. A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m. on November 11, 2023, at Windsor Hills United Methodist Church in Roanoke, Virginia. Family and friends are invited to attend and join in celebrating Greg, who touched so many lives.  A graveside service will be held on a later date with Greg’s family at Greenwood Cemetery, in Bedford, Virginia, where he will be placed to rest near his beloved father, Hal. Arrangements by Burch-Messier Funeral Home, Bedford, 540-586-7360.
