Gregory Sams

Gregory Michael “Mike” Sams, age 73, of 621 McCormick Blvd, Clifton Forge, Virginia died Sunday, November 19, 2023 at Heritage Hall in Lexington.
Mike was born September 10, 1950 in Alleghany County, Virginia to the late Robert Lee and Nancy Evelyn Terry Sams. He began his career with the Chesapeake and Ohio Railroad and retired as an engineer for CSX Transportation. He was a fan of the Virginia Cavaliers. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, golfing, playing video games, and was an avid reader.
He is survived by his wife, Cindy Spangler Sams of Clifton Forge; a daughter, Suni Rai Halsey of Clifton Forge; a son, Jason Sams and wife Michelle of West Richland, WA; a brother, Patrick Sams and wife Donna of Roanoke; his mother-in-law, Wilma Spangler of Clifton Forge; two brothers-in-law, Vernon F. Spangler, and wife Vicky, and Mark Spangler; nine grandchildren, Jasmine, Gavin, Dani, Marissa, Cheyenne, Drake, Leilani, Benjamin, and Vaden; four great grandchildren, Eva, Antonio, Jai’Quan, and Penelope; and a nephew, Matthew.
In keeping with his wishes, his body has been cremated. There are no services planned at this time.
